THE LINDEN TREE – TREE OF HEALING AND HARMONY
The linden tree has been named Medicinal Plant of the Year 2025 – a symbol of calm, balance, and centuries-old healing tradition. Its blossoms and leaves are known for their soothing effect on skin and senses. In our TASSILO LINDE care line we combine this power with modern, holistic natural cosmetics.
LIME BLOSSOMS: GENTLE RELIEF FOR YOUR SKIN
Soothing and calming: Lime or Linden blossom extracts have a particularly soothing effect on stressed, reddened, or sensitive skin. They help to relieve irritation and redness.
Anti-inflammatory: The flavonoids and essential oils they contain have anti-inflammatory properties and support regeneration for minor inflammations or after sunburn.
Moisturizing: Linden blossoms help to hydrate the skin, make it supple, and support the natural protective barrier.
Stimulates circulation: Linden blossoms promote circulation, making the skin appear more vital and fresh and helping to reduce the appearance of fine dryness lines.
CREATING ESSENTIALS FROM ANCIENT KNOWLEDGE!
From the Demeter-certified linden trees on our monastery grounds and the water from the three artesian monastery springs, we have produced a spagyric essence from the leaves and blossoms, as well as a linden blossom extract. The rich face cream and the light face lotion have the unmistakable scent of real linden blossoms and are especially beneficial for combination skin and skin in need of pampering.
The Tassilo Linden, over 1000 years old and part of the founding legend of Wessobrunn Monastery, is the inspiration for this care line. It is a winter linden, located not far from the monastery, with a crown diameter of about 30 meters.
THE LEGEND OF THE TASSILO LINDEN
The founding of the Wessobrunn Monastery is attributed to a fateful encounter of Duke Tassilo at this linden tree: One night, Duke Tassilo and his entourage set up camp beneath a linden tree. That night, he dreamed that the heavens opened and a beam of light illuminated the landscape, precisely at a spot where three springs bubbled up. These springs flowed together in the shape of a cross, while on the beam of light, like on a ladder, angels ascended and descended to draw water there.
The duke, having just awakened, told his loyal companion Wezzo about the strange dream he had. Immediately, Wezzo set out in search and, indeed, not far from the linden tree, he discovered the three springs. Thereupon, Tassilo summoned Benedictine monks from Benediktbeuern and, in the year 753, commissioned them to found the monastery. The Wessobrunn Monastery was named after the discoverer Wezzo and is now one of the oldest monasteries in Germany.
